Our Immersion workshop on Saturday, March 22, was a great success. Thirty-one members and three guests attended. The participants found the content informative and engaging.
Here are some of the highlights of the workshop:
Demystifying "Difficult" moves in the set (David, Geoff, Louise, Jen)
This Q&A session was filled with teacher commentary and corrections to help us work on some of the more complex moves.Exploring Our Meridians with Meridian Massage (Louise)
Meridian massage is one form of Chinese Traditional Medicine. Like acupuncture and acupressure, meridian massage can help with various mental and physical health problems. During this session, we explored ways to massage 12 meridians as a form of self-care. Here is the presentation notes [click here]Mirror Set (Geoff)
Shurfu (Master Y.C. Chiang) believed learning the mirror image set was essential in improving taiji practice. Even if you don’t master it, there are numerous benefits to simply working on it.Not So Subtle Energies" (Magnetics and Earthing) (Jen)
Our planet has at least two energy systems that it shares with us and are essential to our health–its magnetic field and the free electrons that run through the ground.Taiji Martial Applications (David and Geoff)
Shurfu (Master Y.C. Chiang) has said there are at least six marital applications for every move. Those who practice taiji strictly for health may not be interested in these applications, but knowing what a move is used for can be very helpful when learning and performing the set. David and Geoff were animated and showed excellent balancing skills as they performed the first four moves of the set using tai ji as an external martial art. We were amazed at the varied applications and harm that could be inflicted on an opponent.
Overall, the immersion workshop was a valuable learning experience for everyone. Participants gained new insights and had the opportunity to connect with other members of the tai ji quan community.
Thank you, teachers, for making this Immersion Day a success. The members appreciated the quality and expertise of the programs. Your commitment and dedication contributed significantly to the workshop's success. I truly appreciate your support for the Cape Cod Guang Ping Tai Ji Quan Club's community.
I want to give a special shout-out to all the volunteers who offered their time and energy to assist Matt and me with the setup on the day of the event. Thank you for stepping up and being such an integral part of the team!
