2000-October 30: National Association Conference Report
Jen Kano attended the Guang Ping Tai Ji Association Conference in McAfee, NJ on October 27-29. It was a very intensive weekend with workshops by some of Tai Ji's top masters and teachers. See her entry about her experiences on our Tai Ji Journal page.
2000-September 1: Happy Birthday to us! The Club turns 5 years old today!
Dues bills for our 6th year will be going out shortly. Dues for this year have been set at $75. This is $25 more than it was last year, but it is $25 less than it was during our first 4 years. The 1999 annual meeting voted to reduce dues for one year to $50 in honor of the new millennium and the year of the dragon. The Club sustained a small loss as a result, but voted to increase dues back up to just $75 as this seemed sufficient to cover our expected expenses.
2000-August 29: Annual Meeting
The 2000 Annual meeting and finishing dinner was a great success. Over half the membership was present (29), and buffet was excellent. Four members; Jack Maenpaa, Deb Vieira, Janet Murphy, and Gia Huang; where honored for finishing. The annual meeting took quite a while as there was a lot of business to conduct. Treasurer Treasa Thomas and assistant treasurer Barbara Blair ran a most efficient meeting, and the members present participated thoughtfully throughout.
2000-August 3: Congratulations to Jack Maenpaa
Congratulations to Jack Maenpaa who was in Maryland July 28-30 participating in a national martial arts tournament. He took second place in the Guang Ping Tai Ji intermediate division, and two thirds in push hands
2000-June 24: Summer Practice Session Saturdays
Summer practice sessions on Saturday mornings started up with 14 participants. It was a diverse group with representatives from most of our winter practice sessions, a couple of Diane's students, and some people new to the Club. Potential new members are welcome to try Tai Ji for the summer, free of charge at this session.
